Wedding Prep and Clinking Glasses

I've been thinking this over for a while, I'm not a huge fan of people clinking glasses at a wedding.  Now, I'm not against making the bride and groom kiss, I just always worry someone is going to get overzealous and break a glass.  Which is why the hunny and I have decided to do something different.

After the first time people do that, we're going to ask them to do something else.  I've seen it where they pay the DJ a dollar to get them to kiss, or to sing a song that has love in it.  We, however, have decided to do something else.  Everytime our guests want us to kiss, we're going to request that they put a donation in a box and ring a bell.  At the end of the night, we're going to put the proceeds to the Wounded Warrior Project.

We both come from families with a lot of military history, so our hope is that people will donate a lot.  Which also means I get to kiss the hunny a lot, which we usually won't do in front of other people.  He gets embarrassed about these things.

What do you guys think?  We thought it was original and it goes with our military themed wedding, as well as it benefits a great cause.

Also, since I did my switch over and it's taking me a little while for my followers to build up, I was thinking that for every new follower I get between now and the end of the year, I'll personally donate a dollar to the Wounded Warrior Project.  Yay or nay?  I think I'll have it go through the month of December.

While Christmas and my wedding are so important to me at this time of year, I really keep thinking about all of those soldiers out there who have done so much so I can marry the man I want, live in a free country, work in a really cool job, and live how I want to.  I feel this is my little way of giving back to those who have made a true sacrifice.

I'm going to do a kick off (if you guys think this is a good idea) and start in December.  'Tis the season of giving afterall.

Hope you all had a fantastic Thanksgiving!

  2. Lia and I had bells on all the tables. I like your idea of the donation box to support the Wounded Warrior Project. God bless.

  3. Great idea! Greg and I chose Wounded Warrior for the donation we made in lieu of favors at our wedding (did you see the cards on the table?)

  4. Mary, that's actually where I sort of got the idea. We also have favors, but I thought this would be a fun way to get donations!
